Car insurance cost reduction & savings
It's no secret. Some people pay more than others for the same coverage. It is important to keep in mind that the car insurance premium that you pay can be affected by many factors, including some factors that you have no control over. What would you have to do to pay less? Let's look at some of the things that affect your premium.
Provide complete and accurate information
All things considered, there may still be little that can be done to reduce your costs and on no account should you withhold information or give false information as in the result of a claim you will find your insurance becomes invalid and you could be liable to huge costs.
One of the main reasons, insurance claims are not paid if because people fail to tell the insurer the complete truth. When the insurer asks questions to assess the risk of insuring you, such as:
- who will be driving the car regularly
- the driving record of the regular drivers eg driving or traffic offences
- any modifications to the car.
it is very important that you answer these questions truthfully - this is called your "duty of disclosure". Don't be tempted to hold information back to get a cheaper premium. If the insurance company discovers any of your answers were incorrect they may be able to reject any claims you make under the policy.
Find the best deal
Take the time to check out different prices for your insurance. The Internet and telephone call centres make this easy. Even if you make just three or four quick telephone calls to different insurance companies, you'll find that the price might vary by $100 or more. Better still, request a car insurance quote here and let them contact you. And that's even before you look at the coverage and exceptions on the policy.
